About Silvio

Experienced Guitarist of 15 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! Throughout the years I've gained an in depth knowledge of the guitar and I've developed a vast selection of teaching resources to make sure I can create the perfect lesson for you! I specialize in teaching Jazz, Rock, Blues, Metal, Funk, Folk, Country and Pop. I hope to see you soon!

My favorite thing is watching my students grow from begging guitar players into to actual musicians and in the process develop their own musical identity.

I have been teaching professionally since 2008. I have since taught privately as well as worked at number of music schools in Florida, Boston, and Currently NY. I started performing at an early age as a Solo musician and with various groups that have led me on tour across the U.S. and parts of Canada. Some highlights include official showcases at SXSW, NXNE, North Side, and Sony BMI summer nights, a music video on MTV, and features in CBC and the Los Angeles Times. In the last few years, I've played hundreds of shows in locations such as New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Atlanta, Orlando, and Toronto and toured alongside bands including Hundred Waters (OWSLA), Freelance Whales (Mom+Pop) and Bomba Estereo (Sony).

I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a 2 year Guitar Performance certificate and have been performing and teaching ever since.

About the lesson

My aim is to figure out your personal musical interests and goals so I can design the perfect lesson plan that targets your interests while building a strong foundational knowledge of the guitar!

I'm experienced in teaching beginners to advanced players of all ages in many different styles!

Make sure you know what you want to learn whether its just the basics of guitar if you are a beginning student or if you're more advanced maybe you are interested in studying a particular style. As an educator I will give you all the necessary tools to learn but you need to be prepared to use those tools in your daily practice and musical life.

I have so much fun with all my students its hard to pick a particular story but one recent project that stand out was this one young man how came to me interested in studying Jazz so he could audition for his High school Jazz band. He had been playing guitar for about two years prior and he had a lot of the basics down but he wasn't familiar with playing Jazz at all. We spent six months together learning the repertoire, improvisational skills, and reading. He wasn't confident he would make the first chair for guitar but after those six months of hard work he nailed his audition and secured his spot in his High School Jazz band. Its moments like those that make me proud to be teaching and inspiring all my students.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If you are just starting out and you don't even own a guitar you should ask yourself what kind of guitar (electric, acoustic, nylon) you should purchase based on your interests. If you're a more experienced student you should ask whether or not the teacher can help you with the musical style you want to study on the guitar.

I offer two different options on weekly lessons as well as a monthly plan. $45 per half hour lesson or $70 per Hour Lesson. If a student purchases a four lesson package I offer a discount. Four half hour lessons for $160 or Four hour lessons for $260. I also offer additional discounts if students travel to me. I always recommend my student take hour long lessons. In my teaching experience I have seen students who take hour long weekly lesson retain the most information. The extra time always seems to allow students to advance week to week rather than having to spend several lessons reviewing the same topic. With that said I realize not everyone has time in there schedule for a weekly hour long lesson so I offer both option just to be as flexible as possible.
