About Richard

I have been a teaching professional for over 20years!

I love to teach and play music!

I customize each lesson to the particular students needs.

I teach most ages and levels!

After performing on the road full time for 5 or 6 years I decided to settle down back in the Bay area. Teaching guitar and ukulele was a natural choice for me as it suits my passion and skill set perfectly.

I have a BA in music from UC San Diego, and have studied guitar and music theory at Berkelee in Boston.

I have been teaching guitar as well as performing in the Bay Area for 20 years and have learned how to maximize results, and fun for students of all ages and levels.

About the lesson

First, I like to listen to what the goals of the student are, and what they want to learn. Then I determine their skill level on the instrument and imagine their potential. After this I recommend a lesson and practice plan that will work for them and their schedule. This process is ongoing, and adjustments to curriculum can be made asin order to maximize fun, and learning.

Almost all types, from very young to older, beginning through advanced. I am sensitive, fun, and know how to guide all types of students to improve their skills starting from where they are now.

It's nice to have a teacher that can relate to you and understand you. One who shows you what you want to learn, but also shows you what basic teqniques you have to have in order to play what you wish to play. Someone who can give you a program of practice and materials that work for you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student needs to have an instrument which they own or can borrow. It's good to have an idea of what songs or styles you would like to play. If you don't know, ask the teacher if he or she can guide you in a study program. Of course the basics of price, availability, and location convenience are important
