About Kristina beth

We are a warehouse studio with over 3200 suare feet of practice and rehearsal rooms. We work in several north county public schools- and all our instructors are live scanned, background checked and professionally vetted. No other studio offers the learnng experience side by side with professional, union and touring musicians using the space and integrating with learners the way we do! An open an positive environment- with resources, and memberships with NAMM, ASCAP, Grammy, and more- we are connected to our communinty and the industry. PIANO, GUITAR, BASS, DRUMS, VOCALS- we want you to excel and have fun. If you are new to music, or thinking about trying again after an experience with a teacher who ofered limited progress- think about us at CCMA. Great teachers are great because it's more than side job- it's a career. At the Studio, we have technique, tehory, and performance resources that hep teachers and students reach their set goals.

After graduating college, and playing as a union musician, marriage and family meant less travel. I decided to get my national certificate, and teach piano. From teaching, to managing several instructors- the cop-op style of Studio at CCMA is an expanded growth of a strong musicians network. The teaching and professional musicians connection became a fun and practical way to bring people together- and thats where we are now! Endless possibilities, and fun.

Owner, Beth Vinas has a BA in Music Theory and accreditation to teach National Merit. All of our instructors have a form of degree, certificate or accreditation alongside their professional experience. We do not take instructors who simply " play a lil ' guitar". Lesson plans, variation in curriculum and use of instructional tools is just one compnent that seprates an trained instructr from a " mimic" or "copy me" teacher. We want you to learn, not just copy.

About the lesson

Hello! With Elementary age students- we ask the parent and student what their hopes and expectations are in music.. Are tehre songs they like? Style of music they listen to? I like to find out if their home and school day is a steady routine, or very busy with various sports and clubs. Fidning out how to integrate music practice, and not make it a burden is priority.

For older students from Middle school and iIgh School age, we ask the same as above- but include questions about acadmeic or collegate goals. Is ths for fun? Is this a study they are pursuing in school? A little of both? Not sure? This is an age we address Natinal Merit options, playing " out" and playing with others in duos, trios or bands. Keeping it on path wth the students needs and wants.

For Adults- it's always about what has brought them in! Playing " that song" learning classical scales, or discovering the joy of playing in a band. We want adults to reach their first goals while getting the best in vetted instruction.

All new and retruning students have a short term and maybe even a long term goal. Achieving those goals, while getting the best in basics- keeping it fun- and openig the door to other music options is our passion.

Many CCMA students go on to perform and play in college, union, session, and professional tours. Our classically trained students, drum line elites, and pop rock indie players have played stages from NAMM, to House of Blues, to Copely Hall and more. Our greatest joy is seeing students follow their passion well past their time with us. Whether it's a student back after college, or an adult student perforing in their first rock band... The Studio CCMA keeps in touch- and we are proud to be a part of your music life!

* make sure they have experience teaching. There are many players out there, but far fewer actual teachers.

* Ask for references. This is not a big deal in the private instruction industry.

* Ask what goals can most likely be reached

* ask what curriculum they use. They ought to have a published curriculum they use as a " home base"- even if they use a lot of their own addenums, a core curriculum that reviews technique , theory and genre keeps things from straying.

* Expect a planned, prepared lesson. Is there a routine in class? Do you know what to expect? Great teachers dont just " wing it" when you walk in.

One of my high school piano students recently completed the full three movements of Moonlight Sonata, and played through with such passion and conviction- that I stopped listening for correction- and simply melted into the performance. Pure joy.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
* What would do I want to accomplish short term? ( a song? a riff? something I heard on the radio?

* Am I ready to be "coachable"? Can I follow instruction to learn a technique or theory even if I dont immediately see the connection to my playing goals?

* Can I commit to rehearsing? This doesnt mean al day evey day... But good lessons teach a student what, an dhow to practice. Having a time 1-2X a day to rehearse moves progress along expedentially!

Lessons are monthly tuitionof $100-$125 a month for 4/ 30 minute lessons. 45 and 60 minute lessons available on request.

Semi- Private ( 2-4 students) available quarterly only! They are $70 a month for 4/ 45 minute lessons.
