About Kevin

I'm a classically trained acoustic guitarist with over 900 hours of teaching experience. I've taught many beginners, young and old, and helped them learn the basics that served as the foundation for more advance techniques. I'm always passionate about teaching new skills to my students and seeing their reactions to their progress and hard work! My job is to get my students to become such adaptive guitar players that they don't need me anymore! Ready to start your music journey? Send me a message and let's get playing!

In my college years I needed to make some extra money and since I was getting really good at guitar I decided to start trying to get some students. It was slow at first and I only had a few to speak of, but eventually I got a job at Guitar Center in their lessons department. After about a year I realized that I can just go back to teaching guitar on my own and decided to run my own business. The rest is history!

About the lesson

I start by finding out their experience level and what their goals are for playing. Next I plan out which fundamental techniques to teach them so have a broad set of basic skills to use. From there it depends on what the student's interests and goals are but I always make sure that they have a strong foundation to go off of!

I have worked with many types of students from children to the elderly. Each of them had their own strengths and weaknesses and it was my job to help them maximize their progress. Some were quick learners while others needed more time and patience. For the prior, I always challenged them to find out where their limits are and then push them. For the latter, I always took my time with them and made sure they understood everything they needed to before moving on.

Perfect! Kevin has been an excellent teacher to my 13 year old son. He teaches in a very down to earth fashion that my son responds well to. Additionally, he encourages good practice habits that will stick well. An absolute must for anyone with children wanting to learn.

I have been taking lessons with Kevin for around 6 months. In that time my playing and ability to read sheet music have drastically improved. He does a great job explaining guitar theory without it being confusing for someone with no background in music. Very easy to work with, great teacher, and a great guy.
