About Akilah

A little about myself, I am 26 years old and originally from the Sacramento area. I am fluent in Spanish with a bachelor's degree in History, and I am currently working on my master's degree in Public History at Cal State Fullerton. I have been coaching for over ten years and I truly enjoy sharing my passion and love for gymnastics with the students I encounter. I love the expression on a student's face when they accomplish a skill that they have been trying at for a long time.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a coach is the feeling you and your student get the moment they have accomplished that one skill they have been working on. The reward is all in the face and the feeling of the moment.

I am dedicated to making sure that each student not only finds joy and excitement in this particular extracurricular activity but also increases their self-esteem and motivational skills.

I truly enjoy sharing my passion for gymnastics with all my students, even the ones who initially appear to not like gymnastics. By the end of my class, they are definitely a fan!

As a former gymnast, I did recreation gymnastics for five years and competitive gymnastics for one year.

As a gymnastics instructor I have over 10 years of coaching experience, and I have taught at several different gymnastics facilities both in Northern and Southern California.

About the lesson

New students will receive a 15-minute assessment test to determine their level of gymnastics. Then we will discuss a set of goals that they wish to achieve and create a lesson plan that's structured around their goals.

I have worked with a variety of different ages starting from 12 months old up to 85 years old.

I also have experience coaching children with special needs.
