About Antonio
I always thought of teaching as my niche and have yet to stray from this path since seventh grade. I did an internship as a teacher's assistant during my senior year of high school which was amazing since most prospective teachers do not get this experience until their junior or senior year of college. The New York Department of Education requires teacher candidates to obtain at least 100 hours of pre-student teaching experience. I made a point to obtain 70 additional hours.
I will recieve my initial teaching certification in May 2020. I am a history and adolesence social studies education dual major at SUNY Cortland. Through field expereience and student teaching, I have worked with students accross the board in age and diversity.

I start with two objectives. First, get to know where the student is in curriculum, where they are having trouble, and where they feel they are strongest and weakest. Second is to get to know the student as a learner.
I have worked with studnts accross the board; as young as fifth graders to as old as seniors in high school. I have had minor experience with ESL students but co-taught a special education class during student teaching.
Social studies is more than just names and dates. It is a complex dicipline that requires not only literacy in reading and writing but also historical thinking, analysis, and inquiry. A student of social studies should not only look at the questions presented, but what questions they can form about the question themselves.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The most important thing for students to think about is where they can be "praised" and where they need "polish." It helps to assess yourself in what you are doing right and where you can improve. Furthermore, it will help your teacher!
