About Laura

Hi everyone! I'm currently a student completing my master's degree in History. My undergrad was in Biological Anthropology with a minor in History. I've been tutoring since I was in high school and love helping subjects finally click for people. Often it takes more than just reading text off of a screen to grasp a concept. I want to help you have a deeper understanding of something so it really sticks!

I think often times people approach teaching in a very traditional way. But, I think as the world moves forward we're finding that there's no such thing as a traditional student. A person's uniqueness should be allowed to carry over in to their way of learning and understanding subjects, it's my hope that my students will feel that I've evolved to their way of learning and created a system that works for them.

I began tutoring in my last year of high school, I started helping other students with math and science. When I began college I decided to continue this because I found a lot of satisfaction in helping someone finally understand a subject. It's my plan to obtain and PhD and eventually become a professor so teaching will always be a part of my life.

In high school I had a 3.9 GPA and then moved on to complete my associates degree in Biology (graduating with a 3.9), my bachelor's in Biological Anthropology with a minor in History (graduating with a 4.0), and am now studying History in a graduate program. I've specialized in natural science subjects and have moved deeper in to social sciences as well as an extensive background in history. I found as I moved along I was more and more drawn to History so I decided to follow my passion.

About the lesson

I believe everyone learns in a different way so I'd love to first figure out what kind of learner you are. I use real life examples, visual aids, and mental maps to guide you through topics including, history, social studies, anthropology, english, geography, and earth sciences.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think it's important to know what road block you're encountering in your studying. Is the material incredibly dense? Or is it a very complex subject? I feel that in both situations the materials need to be broken down and examined piece by piece for a better understanding.
