About Lisa

Riding lessons, basic horsemanship, and a personal one on one relationship between horse and rider.

My first teaching "job" was right after I got out of the military. One of my friends had a daughter who wanted to learn how to ride. I enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience, and was told I did a fantastic job with my training. That girl, by the way, went on to compete in hunter/jumper.



I've been riding horses myself since I was 7. I've owned several horses in my lifetime. And feel I can bond closely with our equine friends.

Introducing horse and rider. If using one of our horses. Some riders already own a horse and prefer to learn I their own horse. Groundwork basics first. Building trust and confidence. Most lessons are 8 weeks in length. 1 1/2 - 2 hours a week.



All kinds. I've taught as young as 8 and as old as 51. I've taught the "brainiacks" and the challenged. As long as you have a genuine want to ride, we'll come up with a personalized plan to get you where you want to be!



Find someone you can relate to. Someone who loves and respects horses and that the horses are comfortable around the instructor. Someone you get along with, and can take compliments and criticism from. 



I attended a horse show of sorts. It was almost a 4-H type show. Younger competitors. My husband niece was competing. It was a dressage event. I enjoyed it so much because the kids were so excited and young, up there I their horses



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Their ultimate riding goals. How long has the instructor been riding? And watch your instructor around the horses. How do the horses respond to her/him.

Details

Sliding scale payment. The horses used for lessons can either be your own horse, or use one of our farm horses. $15/HR for basic riding lessons. Depending on if you wanted to apply for the sliding scale.
