Experienced tutor in Horseback riding in Spring Grove, Kathy offers private lessons tailored to your needs.

Kathy is an amazing instructor. The horses always come first with her. Horse care, ground work, and really growing a respect and connection with your mount is very important to her and to me. She countines to inspire me to grow as a horsewoman and to always think “what was good day?” Positive instruction from great teacher, amazing school horses/ponies, and a real sense of community are what you will find at Meadowsweet Ranch. Highly recommended!!

Instruction is tailored to the individual student and horse, taking into account their levels of experience and aptitude as well as, in the case of the rider, the areas in interest.
The approach is comprehensive, especially for young riders, including care and grooming, understanding of tack and equipment as well as the relationship with the horse and riding skills.

Kathy is so knowledgeable and patient. She has made me feel confident and at home after many years out of the saddle. I’m so thankful I found Meadowsweet!

Kathy understands the horse and human relationship very well. She helpes me understand what the horse perspective may be and it helped me understand my approach to learning.

I went to a Yoga/Horseback Riding Retreat last year in Colorado and came back wanting to take lessons. When I asked for a recommendation, they immediately put me in touch with Kathy at Meadowsweet Ranch. I've been taking lessons since fall 2017 and can't say enough good things about my experience.

Kathy is a consummate teacher, patient, kind, insightful, challenging, and on top of all of this a wonderful person! She knows horses and her program is a guided journey - developing knowledge, skill and a relationship between you and your horse.

Being at Meadowsweet is like being transported to heaven for an hour or a day. The horses are so well cared for and the surroundings are peaceful and beautiful. You get to develop a relationship with your horse, get some terrific exercise, and learn a bit about yourself along the way.

If you have ever wanted to take horseback riding lessons, this is the place. The prices are reasonable and you will thank yourself for taking this step - over and over again!

Kathe is a patient and knowledgeable teacher. I’m an older student who hadn’t ridden in a long time and she accepts my limitations and encourages me to progress at the pace I’m comfortable with. I ride one of her horses and the stable horses are wonderful and very well cared for.

Not only do you learn to ride but also overall care for horses is important too.

My daughter loves Meadowsweet! It is her happy place! Kathy and her staff are terrific. Kathy encourages her students to fetch, groom and saddle the lesson horse before and after their lesson. This allows for so much extra time with the horse, which might be my daughter's favorite part! It makes her feel like she is a horse owner! ;) My daughter has made a few good friends there too. The other students and horse owners are very nice and willing to lend a helping hand to each other. The barn is kept clean, and Kathy makes sure the horses are getting the best care the industry has to offer. There are also many workshops, fun events, trips and day camps to join in on throughout the year. Through her time spent at Meadowsweet, my daughter is learning that owning a horse is hard work, and a great responsibility, but very rewarding. I have seen my daughter grow in her knowledge of horses, work hard and make friends. I wish I had Meadowsweet when I was a teenager!

My daughter started taking lesson at Meadowsweet Ranch when she was 6 years old. Everyone there is very helpful and friendly. Kathy, the owner and lesson teacher, is fantastic!! Right from the start, she teaches you how to get your horse from the paddock, tack your horse up, and most importantly how to ride safely. Kathy is very understanding and has been EXTREMELY patient with my daughter (who does not catch on to things very quickly). We have found a second home at Meadowsweet Ranch, and if you looking to learn to ride, (young or older) I would highly recommend taking lessons at Meadowsweet Ranch.

I started riding again about 10 years ago, after a long time off and not ever having much formal instruction. I've been taking lessons with Kathy since then. Kathy's method of teaching is to emphasize the use of seat, legs, and hands, body position, and not rely heavily on equipment. In other words, you really learn to RIDE. I feel that I've become a much better rider since I began lessons. As a result, I've become confident enough to take riding vacations, something that I always wanted to do.
I also like that there are opportunities for students to participate in events such as: trail rides, drill team, working equitation, and off site barn trips. Chain O Lakes park is accessible from the Ranch and there are frequent opportunities to trail ride there. The Ranch is a low stress environment and exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to get back into riding,.

I enjoy it very much. I have never met anyone unkind at meadowsweet. Kathy is an amazing teacher and I have learned so much from her.
