About Claire

I am offering my services as a tutor in Biology, Italian Language Studies, Martial arts (Muay Thai), and Swimming for anyone who would like to learn or enhance their skills. My goal is to share the passion I feel for each of these areas of interest with those I teach. Listed below are my qualifications and experience in each.

General:

- Incoming freshman at James Madison University, as a part of the Honors College and STEM Second Century Scholars Program

- 4.0 GPA at Syosset High School in NY, graduating senior

Biology

- Consistent A in honors-level courses as well as AP Biology

- Intended major in college is Biology with a neuroscience concentration

- JMU STEM Second Century Scholarship recipient for Biology

Italian:

- I have been studying Italian since 2013, and plan to continue my studies in college as part of a Modern Foreign Languages major

- Consistent A+ in honors-level courses, as well as AP Italian

- Placed into 400/senior-level courses as an incoming freshman in college

Muay Thai

- USA Muay Thai Federation Youth Member

- Have been training for 8 years, 4 of which have been competitively

- Train and teach kids classes at Garcia Muay Thai gym

- Certified Trainer Level I Instructor for both kids and adults

Swimming

- Swimming competitively since 2012 on a team

- Captain of varsity swim team

- 3 school records, all-county, all-conference, all-division awards

- Coaches Award recipient, Most Outstanding Senior Award recipient

- Club swimming from 2016-2019 on elite level

- Youngest member of Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps

- Certified WSI Swim Lesson Instructor

- Teach swim lessons as well as coach swim team

I am a freshman at James Madison University. I am planning to double major in Biology (neuroscience) and Modern Foreign Languages (Italian), with a minor in Honors studies. I am a member of the World Language Honor Society at my school. I am a Red Cross certified swim instructor, and I teach swim lessons and coach for my school's swim team during the winter. I am also a certified trainer in Muay Thai, and I have taught classes at both the kid and adult levels.

About the lesson

I like to see what kind of information the student is already familiar with, and build off of those existing skills to integrate new information as smoothly as possible. When working with a student with no experience in the subject, I like to start with the fundamentals and refer back to them as often as I can in order to reinforce these connections.
