About Michael

I have been competing since I first started training 11 years ago. I am equally as good in Gi or Nogi & have good wrestling techniques as well. Everything I do is competition tested. I am extremely passionate about my craft, still living the jiu-jitsu lifestyle and actively competing regularly at the highest level ( IBJJF ) and many other tournaments.

I train everyday and am still improving rather than relying on old techniques, I study Jiu-Jitsu daily and I love it more than anything. When I teach it genuinely matters to me that the student grasps the technique fully and makes improvement.

I started teaching naturally at the old gym I began training with, and expanding by applying for jobs at local gyms, and helping my friends teach classes at their academies as well.

About the lesson

I will meet with the student or have him at meet me at the gym. Before meeting I usually will have the student tell me which technique he wants me to help him with, or if we've been working regularly already I will have an idea where to work from. I typically show technique and drill the technique with my student at their own pace. The faster they can accurately display and understand the technique the more I can show within the time period. If my student is has more experience and is interested, I will roll live with them to see how they are using the techniques in a live scenario.

I have worked with everyone from kids to seniors, competitors, hobbiest, and everything in between.

No matter how great the teacher, the student must give max effort to get max results. Staying consistent is the most important factor, so never quit and keep showing up!

Competing at the IBJJF American Nationals in 2020 December was an awesome experience for me. Although I feel the refereeing was wrong in my semi finals match, I had a great experience. I placed 3rd, but believe I should've fought in the finals for 1st or 2nd.

They should think about their overall goals and their short term goals. They should ask themselves if they are ready to commit to something tough, but totally life changing and worth it.

My scramble game is ten times what it was before i did lessons with Michael. I would recommend taking time to learn what you can from him no matter what your belt level.
