About Debi

I specialize in teaching, beginning to advanced knitting, and beginning crochet. I can also customize any apparel pattern to make it a perfect fit.

I have been knitting and crocheting for most of my life. I started teaching at local shops in 1995. I also started professionally designing hand knit wear shortly after that time.

I am happiest with yarn in my hands, creating new garments and accesories. That is how l want every knitter and/or crocheter to feel.

My goal is to help you love the motions and results of your art.

My pleasure in this work is seeing the joy and accomplishments on my student’s faces. There is nothing more satisfying to me then passing along everything l have learned over the many years l have been working at this art.

I started teaching when a teacher at the shop l was working at became too ill to teach at a stitchers convention on the West Coast. I studied her class notes on the plane ride and taught 4 classes over the next 5 days.

I knew then that l wanted to teach my own classes.

I have taken over 50 classes with teachers, authors and designers from around the world. The more l learn, the more information l can share with my students!

About the lesson

I have yarn and needles for my new artists and we work with those until the new knitter or crocheter is ready to start a project.

My more advanced artists usually bring a project in process or a pattern to start.

I have worked with students from 6 years old to my dearest student who learned to knit at 99 years old.

I have worked with everyone from beginners to advanced students who needed help on advanced projects.

You will be spending a lot of wonderful hours with your teacher. Make sure your teacher’s goals match your own. If your knitting/crocheting must be perfect, your teacher will appreciate that about you. If you want to love your work and it doesn’t have to be perfect, your teacher will love that about you too!

My now 100 year old student completed a baby blanket for her great-great-great granddaughter and is now looking for yarn to start her first sweater.

Details

Standard charges depend on whether or not the student comes to my studio.

If you would prefer that l come to your home or office, the rate is $40.00 per hour.

If you are able to come to my studio, the rate is $35.00.
