About Rohit
I'm graduating from Caltech this Spring with a B.S. in physics and have taken extensive coursework in science and math throughout high-school and college that allow me to tutor most STEM subjects. This includes algebra, AP Calculus, general physics, classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and many more. Having scored a 1590 on the SAT and multiple 800s on SAT subject tests, I would also be able to help significantly improve SAT/ACT performance.
My approach towards any type of tutoring is to first work with the student to understand what their main goals are, whether they be getting an A in a course or improving their SAT score by 200 points. We then make a goal-motivated plan to focus on topics they might need more practice on. During sessions, I practice an open discussion based form of tutoring where there is constant communication between me and the student. This allows them to ask for clarifications at any time and ensures there are no gaps in their understanding. I will provide additional notes and practice material in addition to working with the resources the student may already have. My personal goal is to help every student develop effective and sustainable learning habits so that they become a more independent and passionate learner in the future.
I have been teaching/tutoring for the past 5 years in both group and one on one settings. For example, I've worked individually with high schoolers struggling in math and science through the Caltech Y volunteer program where I helped multiple students improve their grades by more than two letter grades. I've also been a teaching assistant for physics courses at Caltech where I held weekly office hours for the entire class. I'm also a Deans tutor for 5 math/physics courses where I am the go to source of assistance for any struggling students.
