About Isa
I specialize in helping students strengthen their writing, reading comprehension, and academic confidence. I began taking college courses at 16 through dual enrollment and earned my Associate’s degree while still in my teens. During college, I completed honors-level English coursework, earned Dean’s List recognition, graduated with highest honors, and became a Commonwealth Honors Scholar. I also earned a 780 on the SAT Reading and Writing section and received a High Commendation in the international John Locke Institute Essay Competition.
I especially enjoy helping students turn ideas that feel scattered or overwhelming into clear, well-developed writing. My approach is highly individualized: I first identify where a student is struggling, then break the skill into manageable steps. Depending on the student, we may work on brainstorming, thesis development, essay structure, evidence and analysis, grammar, revision, reading comprehension, or SAT strategies. Rather than simply correcting a student's work, I explain why something should be changed and teach a repeatable process they can use independently.
What makes my approach different is that I understand the academic pressures students face while also having extensive experience with rigorous writing at a young age. I aim to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether a student wants to improve an essay, prepare for SAT Reading and Writing, strengthen overall writing skills, or develop a college application essay, my goal is to help them become a more confident and independent writer.
