About Jacob

In December of 2007, when I was 17 years old I decided I wanted to learn how to defend myself and joined a local Mixed Martial Arts gym in my community. It was taught by a Tae Kwon Do black belt who was also a National champion. After some time I decided I enjoyed it enough to try competing in the amateur MMA circuit and had my first fight when I was 18 years old. From there my passion grew and I took several other MMA fights and earned two amateur championships along the way. Eventually I turned professional and currently hold a record of 2-1. I've slowed down in recent years to keep in good health but continued to grow my knowledge of martial arts. I've trained with the UofM Jiu Jitsu team earning my blue belt under Rodrigo Nunes of Winner Behring Jiu Jitsu. I've also trained with the top MMA Gym in Michigan, Scorpion Fighting System, for several years and fought for them multiple times. Currently I've been fine tuning my striking with Russian Muay Thai and Kickboxing Champion, Maksim Ivanov at Counter Punch Boxing and Fitness in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have trained with many world champions and UFC fighters throughout my career and have been around some of the greatest martial artist in the world. I train all ages and backgrounds in a variety of styles and enjoy watching people grow and become the best they can be under my tutelage. Whether you are interested in self defense, competition, or just getting into great shape while learning a new skill, I'm your coach!

About the lesson

We will start slow and use fundamental training to build muscle memory and endurance and gradually increase training as a student progresses.
