About Kurt

For the past three years, I served as a Title I Math Intervention Instructor, providing specialized instruction to 7th and 8th grade students. I worked daily with students in small groups, identifying learning gaps and adapting instruction to each student's needs.

My teaching is built on three principles: specialized, targeted, and adaptive. To help a student, I first have to understand how they're thinking. I continually check for understanding and adjust my instruction based on what I hear and observe. Sometimes that means using visual models, connecting concepts to familiar ideas, or breaking problems into manageable steps.

I tutor only middle school math because that's where my experience and passion lie. My goal is to build understanding, confidence, and independence—not simply help students get the right answer.
