About Dean
Focus-In-Math offers 1-1 online tutoring for K - 12 and college-level math students. As the proprietor of Focus-In-Math, I take pride in providing my clients with a tutor who has strong content knowledge and uses proven teaching methods. Also, at Focus-In-Math, you will get a tutor who is prompt, courteous, and professional.
I am passionate about mathematics and math-related subjects and enjoy sharing that interest with others. The Focus-In-Math motto is quality over quantity. I ensure students understand the concepts then explore applications. I feel a sense of accomplishment when my students can solve problems on their own. That's when I know they have achieved their goals and I have done my job.
Students send me the topic/exercises that they need help with. I then determine the foundational concept(s) that they need to understand. Next, I create a lesson plan that addresses the concepts and address any misconceptions the student may have with the topic during the session.
My background is BSEE SUNY and Ph.D. Applied Mathematics WSU. Also, I have NYS teacher certification in 7 - 12 mathematics and have taught middle school math and HS math in NYC since 2004. In all, 25+ years as an educator.
