About Lisa

Helping students navigate math challenges and real-world applications in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math is a passion of mine for over 18 years - paying it forward for those who helped me! As a systems engineer, I help students understand math problems in ways that textbooks cannot because of my career experience. Students learn how to understand methods, analyze word problems, and see how math is used everyday beyond school assignments instead of memorizing formulas and practice taking tests.

During my career as a senior technician and later a senior systems/staff engineer, I was often on-loan to training departments responsible for employee education to fill gaps in STEM. Over time, as the Internet evolved, I began giving back to communities by tutoring math online.

About the lesson

Typically, a new student will connect with me first via the website to get a quote. Once hired, there are three ways to engage in sessions with me or get homework help depending upon student needs and resources:

1) Students, ages 18 and up, will get access to an immersive Metaverse service where they can create a free avatar to use then meet me using my avatar during scheduled hours. It's a safe, contact-less, and fun way to experience STEM and be inspired!

2) Students, ages 13 and up, can request an interactive whiteboard session online when just-in-time math help is needed.

3) Students, ages 13 and up, can optionally get homework help problems handled entirely via email.

Students I work with are ages 13 and up. Topics include help with elementary and middle school math, high school and college algebra, and high school and college trigonometry. Types of students include home-schooled, public school, private school, university, and contractor/military training.

When you need help in math, it is important to understand there are different types of math topics and there are different styles of teaching. Teachers are bound by curriculums and often do not have time to tutor students who need extra help. The tutoring services I provide will help students understand and apply what they learn to more advanced math problems that relate to the world around them.

In 2022, we sponsored and hosted a STEM related event where we showcased avatars who used their growing knowledge of math to create unique interactive 3D models, simulations, and art.

I also participated in an annual Metaverse conference and showcased the work of graduate student interns engaged in STEM innovation.

Per Session Rates:

For ages 18 and up, immersive Metaverse session $39 USD per hour (pay it forward value)

For ages 13 and up, interactive Whiteboard session $25 USD per 20 minutes

Prepaid Metaverse Session Rates:

1 hour per month = $39 USD
