About Michael
I graduated from WPI in 2017 with a bachelors in Mathematics. While pursuing my degree I spent much of my free time in the campus makerspace, learning as much as I could from the engineers there, and I also took as many programming and physics courses as I could, but preferred mathematics as a stronger foundation for lifelong learning. After graduating, I worked with additive/digital manufacturing and materials science at Harvard, Voxel8 and later Solvus Global, with circuit/antenna 3D printing and metal additive manufacturing respectively. I am regarded highly by Ric Fulop and others in the industry. I recently decided to bootstrap my own company, and left Solvus to pursue this goal.
At WPI, although I was pursuing a bachelors degree, I was given free reign to tutor graduate students in their classes, and I quite enjoyed the process. I wish to help other students achieve their full potential, and serve as a guide as they start out in industry or begin thinking about their career, where all too frequently these days there isn't a proper structure linking people from college to that first job, nor a stable job market.

I enjoy developing technologies and teaching people, because it enables a brighter future for all mankind, and because of all the fascinating things I learn about the universe and human nature along the way.
I tutored a graduate class of engineering mathematics at WPI, while still an undergrad.
My first job ever was as a junior councelor at YMCA camp combe, where I learned plenty in the way of child psychology and behavioral strategies. In college I built a strong foundation in mathematics, and was even allowed to tutor graduate classes while pursuing my bachelors' degree. Since college, I have worked in many start-up companies, which has given me a keen sense for proper entrepreneurship, and the skills sets young people really need to enter the job market these days. I aim to pass that wisdom along with my tutoring, as well as core competency in the relevant subject.

First I gauge where you are with a subject you are learning, and analyze what external factors might be affecting your progress. Then if possible I reach out to teachers and professors to coodinate my tutoring with their lesson plan. Then we sit down and actually do some tutoring sessions. I will attempt to identify specific points of confusion and teachable moments, and make the learning experience minimally stressful, or even enjoyable if possible. I will adapt my strategy to help find what works for you. For example, flash cards for memorization but discussion and examples for abstract concepts.
Tutoring will go most smoothly if the tutor can coordinate their efforts with your teacher, or have some sense of the curriculum.
Also with maths and physics especially, whenever you notice you're confused about something, make sure to circle that problem, or write out what's confusing you about that problem. Then when tutoring, if points of confusion are already identified, I or another tutor can make sure to target exactly the points that need clarification.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is the root cause of the issue? Is it emotional? Logical? Are there external distractions?
Make hypotheses and test them, and never give up.
