About Heidi
A relaxed atmosphere on the farm creates a warm and trusing environment. Self esteem building around the subjects needing help is as important as increasing grades. Taking away math anxiety opens up a new way of learning. My goal is for my students to learn to understand the subject matter and increase self confidence in all aspects of learning.
Watching the internal transformation in kids that happens when the light bulb goes on. When something that was once confusing is now clear. The smile that goes along with that is priceless.
I have always worked with kids with special needs. After the Covid pandemic I saw a need to assist parents and students with academics. Middle school is an especially challenging time for kids and I feel my skills best fit this transitional time and can help prepare these blossoming kids for the next phase of high school.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Business. I have been a mother of a school age child who is now in college

I will talk to parents to get a feel for the childs personality and learning style. For example an introverted child might learn differently than an extroverted child. I individualize the learning experience that works best for each individual child.
I have mostly worked with kids with special needs. I was a single mom that raised a son who is now a successful college student. Any student who is struggling is a joy for me to help.
When looking for a tutor, look for someone you can feel comfortable with. Someone that will make you feel good about yourself and your progress. You are not just learning how to solve a problem you are learning how to learn to solve the problem.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Realizing what you don't know is the hard part. Asking fo help can be hard. Asking a question in class can be hard. If something is confusing or not making sense it is important to fix it early. It can be fixed. I takes bravery and ask for help.
