About Alicia
A local from the Coachella Valley with a passion to teach that started in college tutoring underclassmen chemistry 1, which inspired a change in career course to education.
An aspiring teacher and educated tutor with years of experience working with individuals or small groups from kindergarten to college aged students. A current Certificated Guest Teacher for Desert Sands Unified School District (background check performed). Previously worked at Palm Desert Charter Middle School as a tutor for multilevel math classes, AVID (college prep program), and BRIDGES (after school program), and at Washington Charge Elementary School for their reading program.
The goal is to help students learn study habits, or revisit notes in order for them to become independent learners and gain the necessary knowledge to excel in any subject. If student struggles to understand a certain topic, re-teaching and homework help is provided. Lessons are re-taught in a matter that are easy to understand after identifying what exactly is their point of confusion. From teaching the basics to Advanced Placement (AP) courses, tutoring is individualized to the student's need.
Acquired Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. Attending Cal State San Bernardino (Palm Desert campus) in the Fall of 2020 to complete teaching credential program.
Math and science are strongest subjects, but inquire about any subject (comfortable teaching K-12 and some college courses).
Flexible hours available in person (following precautions for COVID-19) or virtual.

I enjoy working with students, being able to help them academically, and reach their career goals. I love seeing their facial reactions when they finally understand a topic they were struggling with or when they bring back improved scores. I want every student to know they are capable of learning and excelling in any topic.
