About Leisha Ann
I love utilizing online task cards such as Boom Learning for extra practice. I normally create these myself and will walk them through the first few problems and allow them to do them independently.
With the work I do, I enjoy incorporating interactive learning when teaching my students. This makes learning more fun and interesting too! I also enjoy creating educational resources that are geared to their needs and interest to continue to brush up on skills or review them throughout the year.
Teaching has always been a passion for me. I love meeting students where they are and building on their knowledge through activities, manipulatives, and games. Growing up, I struggled with school and it took one inspiring teacher to make me reach for the stars and that's my goal as a teacher to provide my students with not only the academic concepts but the love of learning. I love using myself as an example because it shows my students that even teachers need a little extra boost too!
In March 2022, I graduated from Walden University with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Studies. I have also worked in the education field for about 7 years. I've worked with mainly Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten.

To begin, I like to take a moment to identify the goals that is expected through the tutoring sessions. I will also like to idenitify the students passions, likes, and even dislikes. In the beginning, I prefer to learn and connect with the student to better support them. Finally, I will do a short assessment to identify where they're at and discussing a starting point.
Most of my students are in grades Preschool to Kindergarten.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A big question I always ask my students before asking their teachers is, "did I give this problem my best?" meaning, did you do all the steps or did you show your work in trying it first. I love using this method because it teaches children to trying it out and it also helps me to understand where they're at and the review we may need to do.
