About Nicole

I teach material in ways that make it seem simple and understandable through slideshows, detailed explanations, and concept maps. I skipped a year in middle school and thus believe that with my teaching styles, I can also help other students to excel. I am an undergraduate student at GWU majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology, and I am very passionate about the sciences. I would love to expand my knowledge and help others to excel in their studies and help them understand the material.

I enjoy helping others to succeed, because I believe that it is key for people to help one another to ensure success for all. I really like to make people understand concepts, especially if they may seem complicated. It is one of the best feelings of understanding concepts, and I believe that being part of that process in helping others with their education is a wonderful opportunity!

I am currently a Biology major (with a concentration in Cellular and Molecular Biology) and a Psychology minor on the pre-medical track. I have just finished my freshman year at the George Washington University with a 4.0 GPA. I am very passionate about the sciences and love to teach about biology, physics, math, and social psychology!

About the lesson

When working with a new student, it is important to learn about the student and to know what they have achieved and what they want to do in the future to understand how to correctly structure their time. I like to know what educational topics they like and understand, to help incorporate a type of thinking that can help them comprehend the material from different fields. When first meeting a new student, I would like to ask them different academic questions to see where they stand in understanding the topic and material that they need help with.

My advice would be to look at their work ethic and how contributed they are to having a true desire to help others succeed. If tutors do not have these abilities, then they would not be passionate about helping the student understand the material. I also believe that educational experience is super important because it shows how well the tutors grasped certain knowledge, so that they can then teach students how to correctly study and understand the material.
