About Nicolas

I went to Woodinville High School while doing Running Start as Cascadia Community College and graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Economics and a minor in Mathematics. I had many different kinds of teachers and learned several creative approaches to different subjects that made the material from each lesson enjoyable. I hope to follow the examples of these professional educators I admired and tailor each tutoring experience to what the student needs to better their education.

My tutoring experience has been limited, but rewarding. I began tutoring in middle school with elementary students needing help with reading and mathematics. When I was in high school, I was too busy to privately tutor, but I was very forward in helping my classmates with subjects I was excelling in: Mathematics (Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus,), Economics (Macroeconomics, Microeconomics). When I went to college, I continued to assist classmates by forming study groups and providing insight with courses I passed.

I want to help the students I work with to achieve their immediate goals and to assist them with a better understanding of the material they're struggling with. Whether a student needs an extra hand with improving their grades, a sounding board to ensure they're understanding the material, or assistance with their homework (or upcoming tests) I'm more than happy to help. I graduated with a degree in Business Economics and a minor in Mathematics. I have tutored children in elementary school, middle school, high school, and even a few college students. I gravitate towards teaching math by using real-world examples or visual methods that can help students see how math is being used to help build a stronger foundation.

About the lesson

I've worked with students that are struggling with the subject and feel like they're falling behind in class; I've assisted students that basically understand the material, but need the extra help to stay on task and absorb the information so they're ready for their tests; and I've spent time assisting students that have a grasp on the subject matter, but want to improve their scores for their grades or upcoming tests.

Find someone you feel comfortable with, but also can help you understand the material. If you're the type of person that needs someone to keep you on task, then look for the type that will be more "strict" with their teaching. If Math is something that makes you feel pressured or insecure, then find a teacher that will help nurture your learning to build confidence in the subject.

There are some amazing tutors out there that can meet the needs of many students, but sometimes it's about finding the right tutor to meet the needs of an individual student.

Details

My standard rate I charge is $25 per hour, but I like to offer $35 for a 90 minute session and $45 for a 2 hour session. If I'm traveling over 8 miles for a tutoring session, I'd prefer the session to be at least 90 minutes.
