About Bianca

When you ask for help with "computer stuff," do you often feel lost when the IT person starts explaining what's going on? Do you have a desire to know at least some of the basic things about your computer as our world gets more technologically advanced? Are you tired of trying to figure out how to do a Mail Merge for the 20th time?

Not only will you discover how to work some of the basic technologies and software out there, but you'll also become empowered and be able to help others after working with me. This will help reinforce the knowledge you acquire here. You'll be able to keep up with that random IT repair person, and know how to better protect your information and devices.

I take all the scary and intimidating terminology that gets thrown at you about computers, etc. and transform those into information tailored to your understanding. Every one learns in different ways, so it's imperative that we teach in those different ways.

Currently, I work as a Help Desk Analyst, as I am working my way down a path towards becoming a Certified Ethical Hacker. As our world's technology advances, it's becoming increasingly important that we know how to protect our personal information that exists on the internet. Cybersecurity has never been more important than it has in recent years.

As a Help Desk Analyst, not only am I the first point of contact for troubleshooting for the people in the company, but I've also been afforded the opportunity to work in Networking, Computer Hardware, SharePoint Administration and more. Many times when I interact with people in the company over the phone, they always say "I'm not computer savvy," or "I don't really know too much about this, I'm sorry," or they call themselves "stupid". I dislike when people refer to themselves that way or constantly apologize when it comes to computers, so I reassure them that they aren't and I proceed to teach them something small that will help them the next time they get into a minor computer situation. When they get off the phone, or when they call back, they always mention "what you showed me last time, really did help. Thank you so much for taking that time with me." This is the part I enjoy the most about what I do.

I've been working in the IT field since I was 15 years old, being the youngest intern for Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated located in Charlotte, NC. I was introduced to IT beginning with Robotics at the age of 10. After several internships with companies like Syngenta, and Apparo, Inc., I obtained my Bachelor's in Information Systems & Supply Chain Management from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2017. I've also obtained my CompTIA A+ Certification, and I am working to get my Network+, Security+, etc.

As I myself learn through formal training, classes, and a lot of trial and error, I've inadvertently taught various people growing up how to accomplish different tasks on their computer using various software and tools. During this time, it was repeatedly suggested to me that I should set up my own formal training. Like I mentioned in my bio, I want to be able to empower people and help them get to the next level in their career paths.

With over 10 years of hands-on experience in Information Technology through various internships, I've received a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems & Supply Chain Management with a Minor in Spanish. I also have received my CompTIA A+ Certification, and am working on obtaining Network+, Security+, SharePoint Administration and more.

About the lesson

I get acquainted with the student's knowledge by offering a short, and completely optional, pre-assessment. From there, based on what they have requested, I formulate their lesson plan according to their learning style and already learned information.

I would tell the student to not only look for how many credentials an instructor has, but also look to see what others have to say about the instructor's care for and attentiveness to their students. Does the instructor listen? Do they make you feel comfortable at your starting knowledge level? Do they reassure you by making the material less initimidating? Do they try to teach according to your learning method, or are they just a cookie cutter approach instructor? Does their excitement for teaching the material cause you to be excited for learning the material?

I would suggest that, when it comes to learning anything new, assess what you already know about the specific subject(s). This way you'll know what you need to prepare for.
