About Aubrey
Welcome to my tutoring site! I specialize in the Life Sciences. This includes a wide range of subjects including: Biology, Zoology, Botony, Genetics, Biochemistry and Environmental Science. I have been teaching science for six years. I love exploring Science through hands on labs and experiments. I am very familiar with virtual labs and other online resources to make learning enjoyable. Science is not about definitions and memorization but hands on learning that leaves an impact.
I have an extensive background in Science Education. I recieved a Life Science Education grades 7-12 degree and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Cedarville University. I taught three years of general science to 7th and 8th grade students and three years of teaching High school Biology, Ecology, and Zoology. While teaching High school Biology I used an online curriculum with virtual labs. I also have experience with online teaching and experience with Google classroom.

I highly enjoy doing virtual labs and experiments from home. I love sharing experiment ideas with students and making videos of the experiments. I love sharing my knowledge about the life sciences. I love seeing when my students are highly involved in their work and are enjoying a lab or assignment.
I started to have a passion for teaching Biology during my Junior year in High school. During high school I highly enjoyed my Anatomy course and Advanced Biology course. I developed a passion for the life sciences during this time. During college I started off in Environmental science. I also played college basketball and helped to lead summer camps for the youth. I was not finding a lot of joy in my Environmental science classes being in a lab all day. I still had a great passion for the life sciences but also enjoyed teaching basketball skills. My coach suggested teaching science. I added Life Science Education classes to my classes and fell in love with teaching.
I have a Life Science Education (7-12) degree and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Cedarville University. I have a five year professional adolescence to young audlt (7-12) license. I have taught 7th- 8th grade general science for three years. I have taught High schoolo Biology, Zoology, and Ecology for three years. I have also been teaching English to students through VipKid for three years.

When encountering a new student I like to hear about their background in science. I first want to understand what level they might be at in science education and what past classes they have had. I also like to hear about their hobbies and interest to try to make learning more enjoyable. I typically do a pre test to assess their knowledge prior to the classes.
I have worked with students from 6th to 12th grade. I have worked with a very diverse population of students in Florida. I have also worked with ESE students in general science. I have worked with students both from lower economic levels and middle class economic levels. I have also worked with students on IEPS.
I would hire a teacher that has expereince working in a classroom and has experience working in that field of study. I would also look for a teacher that has experience with an online curriculum.
I love outdoor events and exploring. A recent event that I was highly fond of was a dinosaur quest I went on with my son. It was an hour long outdoor even in which you drive your car through a park to see life sized dinosaurs.
