About Francesca

My name is Francesca Mondanaro, I am a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music, currently on visiting faculty of Vancouver Opera and Vancouver Academy of Music, keeping a private studio in Manhattan and now, Brooklyn, New York. My technical training has taken place at such prestigious as The Music Academy of the West under Marylin Horne, International Vocal Academy Institute in Tel Aviv and Montreal, Princeton Vocal Institute and more. My students are passionate amateurs, aspiring professionals, and working musicians in opera, rock and musical theater. My clients have previously and are currently performing on operatic stages including Seattle Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opera Victoria, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Austin Lyric Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Glimmerglass Opera, dell'Arte Ensemble and many others; musical theater productions as Phantom of the Opera (Broadway), Sweeney Todd (Broadway national tour), Carousel (Broadway), A Bronx Tale (Broadway), The Last Ship (Broadway); concert debuts at such venues as Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, National Performing Arts Center in Beijing, Pritzker Hall in Chicago; and rock musicians on national and international tour at such venues as the Gramercy Theatre in NYC, The Viper Room in LA, the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Live at Heart Festival (Sweden), Rocker Hannover (Germany), and more.

I am passionate about my craft and give my all to each and every student - I believe in getting results quickly - and that every singer has the right to be given a solid, healthy vocal technique based on the classic bel canto and Swedish-Italian schools of training, addressing the unique needs of each singer to get the most out of their instrument, to ace their personal and professional goals. About the lesson

During a consultation lesson, we will go through your vocal history, any medical or technical concerns, and discuss your specific goals and needs in taking lessons long term. I will start the singer off usually with vocalizes they are familiar with, to see how and where they feel comfortable, and then open up to an extensive set of vocalizes individually picked for them, depending on what I hear. I will be listening and watching for registration issues, breath and body alignment, vowel coordination, balance of mixing registration especially for musical theater and rock musicians, and more. By the end of your 60 minutes you will have a clear understanding of what I believe your voice needs at that time, the specific excercises that I believe will directly address said needs, and a game plan for how we would work together moving forward in regular lessons.
