About Marcy
I first started studying calligrahy in Jerusalem in 1981. I have been writing in calligraphy in both Hebrew and English since then. You can see my work at (concealed information) and (concealed information)
Through the years I have taught individual students and groups. I believe that this is a skill that anyone can learn if they are willing to put in the time to practise. If you have an artistic bent or even rhythem, it might come easier than to someone who doesn't, but I think that anyone can develop some skills in beautiful writing.
Despite my BSC in Medical Technology (have to pay the bills), I have always loved crafting. I love making something special for clients. I have made many ketubot, Jewish marriage contract, doing both the writing and illumination. When my children were 12-13 years, I made special gifts for all their class mates having Bar and Bat Mitzvot. I also made end of the year teacher gifts, and have been commissioned to make a wide variety of illustrated certificates, awards and gifts.
I learned from a professional calligrapher and have be in the profession for decades.

I first provide the student with a list of supplies that they wil need. At this point I keep it simple, because I have found too many students do not want to put in the time required to learn the skill, whihc is practice, practice practice. I then introduce the student in the use of the callligraphy pen, whether they decide to use a marker first or invest in a pen, learning how to use the point of the pen and once that is conquered, we move to letter forms.
