About Sue

Bead stitching is a fun way to turn seed beads into dimensionable art. I love breaking down the stitch technique and helping crafters see where and how a stitch works, when to use it, and how to find their own creative mojo!

Teaching online has its own challenges, but has been a great way to meet beaders from far away places and keep holding classes when shops and conventions are closed. When people may also have a little extra time on their hands, I enjoy helping them fill that space with creative learning and comeraderie.

I've had many patterns published in beading magazines around the world and have been teaching at large bead shows for several years. My superpower is working with beginners and those who just need help honing their skills to complete more complex patterns. I specialize in creating casual jewelry projects that focus on a specific beading skill. My students learn how to do their beading while making something fun and beautiful they can wear, show off, and make as gifts for friends and family along the way! This gives such a sense of accomplishment while learning!

Our patterns and projects use easy to find supplies and in many cases we also have kits available with everything you need to make your project without shopping around. Beadweaving projides limitless design possibilities!

After having a few of my original designs published in a national Beading magazine, I started teaching in 2014 at a JoAnns craft store in Schaumburg, IL. Then I was a regularly scheduled gues instructor at a locally owned bead botique in IL and invited to teach at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee, WI. Since then, I have been able to teach in shops in IL, WI, and TX and another big show in Tucson, AZ. I love teaching and really miss the in-person interaction, but am so happy for the online ZOOM platform so we can continue learning and exploring beadwork together.

I offer classes and projects for students at all skill levels of beading and crafting and can adjust my lesson to your comfort zone and speed. Because beadweaving deals with tiny seed beads, students must be able to hold a needle and thread for extended periods and see small items (extra lighting and magnification may be needed). Instructions are computer generated illustrations, so being able to follow written instructions and read diagrams is also important. Adults only please, unless discussed beforehand.

Find a teacher who creates what you are interested in making. I can teach all types of beadwork, but beadweaving is my passion. I preferr to teach beadweaving and will be more excited and creative when teaching you about what I love.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Beadweaving is often requires hours of sitting and working with small materials and reading patterns. You will need a well-lit area, a sturdy work surface, and be able to handle a needle and thread and tiny beads. But the outcome is so rewarding and the creative possibilities are endless!

Online lessons are $12 per hour, per person.
Groups (>8ppl) are available.

I have pre-set project specific classes listed on my website, and can schedule a special class for you and your group seperately.
