About Nicole

Hello and welcome! I am a certified K-12 Art teacher and private craft business owner with over 12 years of experience. I love to share the gift of knowledge with others and help my students build valuable skills. I have a Bachelors in New Media and know Adobe Creative Suite well. I have years of experience teaching Painting,Drawing,and Ceramics but my forte is Digital Arts and Digital Photography. As a side business, I also craft making felt flower wreaths and home decor. Teaching is my passion and I think art is a great way to express ourselves and also gain valuable problem solving skills.

I initially traveled and studied Marketing and Advertising overseas in Australia at RMIT University. While this was a wonderful opportunity to live in a different country and culture, I decided to come home. I then pursued my Bachelors degree in New Media with a certification to teach grades K-12. New Media is somewhat of a catch-all of digital arts such as video creation and editing, photography, digital art, typography and more. My certification required fine art classes. Therefore I have a wealth of fine art knowledge and experience.

I have a Bachelors in New Media and a certification to teach Art for grades K-12. I have taught for over 10 years both in person and online and have integrated flipped classrooms into my practice. I have also owned my Etsy business making wreaths and home decor. While that has been a side business since 2014, I would love to expand by offering classes on how others can create and find happiness and enjoyment out of crafting .

About the lesson

First I would like to get the know the student and what their goal is in taking a class. Art does require material or equipment, so it is best to see what they have first before lessons begin. Art is best when modeled and the student follows along. While this is an introductory process, the student at least gets the feel for the process. Afterwards, I love to provide resources on where to take their creative endeavors next. :)

I have worked with students in grades K-12 and have an equal amount of experience teaching K-5 and 6-12.
