About Marjorie

You would be getting insightful help from a lifelong producing artist/art teacher with a BFA, All Levels Teaching Certificate and Post Grad Studies at the prestigious Glassell School of Art Museum of Fine Art Houston. I am proud to sell the work I produce. I can guide you in how to think like a painter. The world needs artists now more than ever. Welcome aboard!

I got hired by the school district where I did my student teaching and started a couple of weeks after I graduated.

Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Sam Houston State University

Post Graduate Studies, Alfred C. Glassell School of Art, The Muscem of Fine Arts, Houston Texas

Seven years of teaching experience in public and private schools

I have sold paintings in excess of $5,500.

About the lesson

First I would like to know where they are in the process of becoming an artist. Have them show me work if they have any. Next I would have the student talk about their challenges and aspirations. With this information we can get started on some lessons or projects that pertain to that.

As we talk about the work, they will have the opportunity to experience the thought process of an artist and how to use their personal insights to make their work that is uniquely their own. Along the way, I hope to infect them with the joy and importance of doing just that.

All ages. At this point I am interested in people who seriously want to be artists. I want to encourage and guide them through it.

Find someone who is not too formulaic and respects where you are coming from with your art.

Taking my Ganesha prints to yoga class and having people get so excited about buying one on the spot.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How serious are you?

Do you want to sell your work?

Is it a hobby or a profession?

How much time do you have for it?

Naturally, you may not be able to answer these questions until you get into it, but if you do know please share the answers with your teacher.

I charge by the hour $70 for a private student in person.

I also encourage students to interact with me over the internet for much smaller fees also based on time. For example: "Did I get the values right this time?" "Yes overall, but darken the blue coat slightly." This might be as little as $5 based on time.
