About Lavinia

I am proud to offer art lessons and techniques that is customized and adjusted to the student's needs and goals! I can provide a calming and positive way of conducting lessons with fine arts experience in many mediums! These mediums include but are not limited to: acrylic, watercolor, oil painting, colored pencils and other non-traditional art techniques.

Teaching art to those who are eager to explore new creative avenues, and seeing the students’ progress in a positive way is one of the many things I enjoy in my work. The more students I get to teach, the more I get to learn myself!

I began working as a substitute teacher for about a year and loved conducting lessons to students! I was excited to combine my love of teaching with my love of art!

I received a Bachelor's degree in Communications/Digital Media. My education offered opportunities to explore my own creativity in computer graphic art, along with, communication practices to help in group settings and person-to-person interaction.

I have been working at Color Me Mine-A Paint-It-Yourself Ceramics Studio for over 7 years. With this experience, I have developed my fine arts skills, as well as, teaching art to kids in workshop settings. Mediums include ceramic painting, clay building, and acrylic painting! Continuing my career path with artistic avenues has become fulfilling for me, as well as my students.

I have also been working as an art instructor on rotation at Independence Through Grace, a non-profit organization helping adults with intellectual disabilities gain confidence in creative projects. I am able to adapt to all levels of skill and offer basic art techniques with history of famous artists! Mediums include ceramic painting, clay building, and acrylic/watercolor painting!

About the lesson

Beginning a lesson with a new student requires patience, openness, and understanding. Figuring out the student's level and their goals are key in deciding which projects are best. Basic artistic elements, such as the color wheel, and art concepts are always a good start. Then, lessons are decided based on student's level of creativity and ambition.

My students have ranged from ages 7-55! I have also worked with children and adults with disabilties.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out

I don't think there is such a thing as a bad question when it comes to doing art! All students should feel comfortable with asking the teacher questions in order to create a relaxed environment. Creativity flows best when the surrounding environment is calm and positive!
