About Clare

Painter and Printmaker, teaches printmaking and painting with an abstract approach. All levels welcome!

I have an M.A in Teaching English which I did in DC and Japan. I have switched to teaching art, but the principles of teaching are the same. I have always enjoyed teaching. It is a satisfying way to give back to the community and helps me engage with others through art. It is more rewarding than spending time alone in the studio all day.

B.A. Studio Art, Catholic University, Washington DC

Years of Post graduate study, Painting and Printmaking, Corcoran College of Art

Certificate, Web Design, Corcoran College of Art and Design

About the lesson

I have a conversation by phone or through email regarding the student’s interests. Then I email the student a proposal and available days and times. We settle on a time frame and set a date or dates.

Adults, teens, middle schoolers, elementary age kids. I am most experienced at teaching adults.

Think about what you enjoy creating most and whether you prefer a teacher to be very hands on or simply demonstrate the skill and let you practice it. Do you prefer a lot of talking and verbal instruction, or a minimal amount just to get you started so you can jump into it?

Taught six adult students how to screenprint sea creatures on coasters at the Phramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville.
