About Shenell

I'm a very patient instructor and I can and have taught all ages and family members. I really like stepping back and letting the student do all the work. That's the best way to learn and for them to see their strengths. There is an Artist in all of us. We just need to start creating!

I've been told I have unique way to approach each individual and make them feel relaxed and at ease. I like having fun and listening to what they see and how they feel.the process is going.

Believe it or not I got started teaching Art in my son's and daughters Boyscouts and Girl Scouts during their craft and Art badges.

I have an AS in Graphic design and currently working on my BFA in Communication Arts at VCU. I've taught at several Paint shops and Workshops in Va., Fl., Ca. I've designed many posters for Naval events during my husband's 25 yrs of his enlistment

About the lesson

First, I like asking what got them inspired to do art? Then ask their level they think they are at? What mediums they like to use? What are some of past Masters they have studied and why? These are just a few first questions that will get our conversation started and me to see where we need to start.

I've instructed ages as young as 3 to 67, and have enjoyed everyone of them.

Make sure the teacher is a good fit for your personality and what are looking to achieve with the instructor. Also Make sure you're being challenged in your art and that you're learning something new with each session.

Not so much as an event but, a first meeting of a young precious 3yr old who wanted to make some Art for her 2 Grandfather's and Dad for Father's Day. She made two acrylic canvas pieces for the Grandfather's and an watercolor for her dad on paper, who called me and said, "Thank you that was the best gift he and the Grands got they all teared up with such a special gift." That was cool!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The students should be honest of what they want from the sessions. Make that it is clear and that the instructor can provide that. Make sure pricing, time and if needed tools supplies are on a check list when talking about sessions.

Details

Well, if it's via satellite it is a set price, depending on the medium of which the student wants to do. Some medium take more time than an hour.

I have a set price for each medium I teach.

If I'm traveling there is a one time fee of minimum 75.00 and then the fee for the lesson being taught. I supply all the supplies when traveling and the cost is included in with the lesson.
