About Maria Clara

My main goal is for the student to enjoy their classes. Not only will I help you learn a new craft, I will show you examples of the many things that you can create. I encourage people to think outside the box, and I will give honest feedback with ways that you can continue to improve. I also like to hear feedback from my students, this helps me to improve on the lessons so thay my student is 100% satisfied with their class and what they are making.

Art has been my life since I was a small child. So, for me to be able to plant creativity in others is what I enjoy the most. I want to teach people to appreciate art and the process of making it. I also believe that everyone can make something, I love to help people find that one thing they are very good at.

I have 4 beautiful boys who I have done crafts with since they could sit. I realized how much I loved stimulating creativity in them. Then I started to teach my friends and family members the things I was learning in my classes. They were so impressed with my ability to teach them that they all encourages me to teach others. To me it is so important for everyone to stimulate the creativity that is inside all of us.

I have an associates degree in fine arts. Although I have not formerly trained as a teacher, I have a natural ability in helping others understand the process. I have taken multiple fine arts courses in college, including all levels of watercolor painting, painting with acrylics, sculpture, printmaking and drawing classes. I have mastered many crafting techniques like jewelry making, paper crafts, mix media work, Pom Pom & tassel art and punch needle.

About the lesson

I first like to learn a little bit about my students. I like to learn how much experience they have with art/crafting, so I can better cater to their specific needs. I will ask what they are wanting to gain out of the classes, what they would like to learn, and I make a plan.

I mostly work with kids ages 2-18, I also work with adults who are beginners or intermediate.

If you are a beginner, I always recommend students to find a teacher they click with. Someone who is friendly and is also interested in getting to know you. When you first start learning something new it can be frustrating if you don’t get the hang of it immediately. If you work with someone you enjoy being with, you are more likely to keep trying. Art is practice, and it is important to find a teacher who is patient, honest and encouraging.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What especifícalos would you like to learn? For example, if you are wanting to learn jewelry making, what kind of jewelry do you want to make? With watercolor, what kind of paintings do you like? Still life? Portraits? Landscapes? Abstract? If you are not sure, it is always helpful to go online and find examples of things you like. This helps me write a plan for lessons with things you will personally enjoy.

Details

I price my lessons depending on what the student would like to learn. Since I usually provide all materials, each medium has a different price of materials. Once I calculate what materials will be needed, I charge per hour.
