About James

James Christopher Hill's multifaceted work ranges from traditional American realism and contemporary romanticism of landscapes and skyscapes to traditional portraits and figures to Illustrative works of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Gothic/Horror and the Steampunk genres.

James received formal training at the prestigious Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Animation in 1998. His senior animation thesis brought Ringling College their first OSCAR for Best Student Computer Animation from the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Science. During college, James was selected by Disney as one of the top 4 students for Animation Boot Camp. However, James decided at the request of Disney to consider being background and conceptual design artist being told that he should be a Conceptual and Fine Artist. Since then, over the last 20 years, his award-winning art has been collected extensively by private and commercial clients in America and throughout the world.

“I seek to capture whatever image or story moves my soul, so my style doesn't focus on anything particular as I like exploring multiple genres combining mythology, science, technology, theology and ideology. My goal is to always inspire others via my art to create whatever they want, design and make the world a better place to live for themselves and future generations.”

I was asked by friends to teach with my knowledge at a local technical college. In addition, due to my expertese in various AutoDESK programs like AutoCAD and 3DStudio along with Designer, I was highered at an official AutoDesk dealership to represent their products and teach week - long sessions to a group of people or some would pay for one-on-one lessons.

I'm a Graduate with Honors in 1999 with a BA in Computer Animation. I won the OSCAR for Best Student Computer Animation along with a host of other awards.

I have taught adjunt classes as a substitute professor at various high schools or colleges.

I have taught week-long intensive training courses.

About the lesson

I first ask them what they what they wish to learn weather to paint or draw just for fun or a hobby or if they are looking to become a professional artist. I then ask them what subject matter they would like to know and design a syllubus from there. Some students usually want to try an instructor out for a few times before committing to more time.

Adults mainly over the age of 18. I have lectured at high schools for a day concerning art and what they would like to learn and also how they would like to apply art to their possible career.

Ask all questions as their are no dumb answers and ask if they went to art college and what maket them consider themselves skilled enough to teach.

I sold a painting for $13,500.00 but had to share 20% for commission.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What type of genre they would like to focus their attention on and how should they practice at home. I always recommend just basic sketching everyday.

$75.00 an hour to start and if they want to sign on for say 4 classes in a month, then I would offer that month for only $250.00 instead of $300.00 and so on.
