About JA George AKA;

I’m an international award-winning Romani American artist with a wide range of life experience and a deep well of creative interests. My work spans multiple mediums—acrylic, oil, and watercolor—and often explores themes such as animals, fantasy, history, landscapes, Romani culture, and the shifting beauty of the seasons.

My teaching journey started in 1981 when my 5-year-old daughter asked me to show her how to draw. I enjoyed teaching her so much that I began offering lessons to other children. Before long, adults were asking to learn as well. Since then, I’ve had the joy of working with students of all ages and backgrounds, helping them unlock their creativity and develop their skills.

Formally trained in Technical Illustration and Mechanical Drafting

Graphic Artist at El Paso Zoological Park (1983–1986)

Taught young learners at Independence Community College in Kansas

In-person art instruction from my studio in Clyde, Texas

Mentored aspiring artists in both fine art and the technical aspects of Body Art since 1976

About the lesson

I have worked with all sorts of students in all age groups and from all walks of life.

When looking for an art instructor, do your research. Use the internet to learn about their work, background, and teaching style.

I was the Children's Art Director for the Aaron Douglas Art Fair in Topeka, Kansas. Later I became the Art Director for the event.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When thinking about who you want to teach you should ask yourself these 3 things:

1. Does the teacher create the type of art I want to create?

2. What is the teachers experience and expertise?

3. What do other students think about the teachers methods?

He is amazingly creative and knowledgeable about symonolism within his art. He taught me how the different swallow swoops mean something different and helped me fix my tattoo design so the swoop of the Swallow reflected the meaning of my tattoo which meant a lot to me, as the tattoo has a deep heartfelt purpose.

He is also very kind and cares about his clients. I passed out twice during my session, but he was patient with me.

I really like how Gypsy educated me on my daith and not just how to clean it but other facts about it. He also shows you him opening all the needles and everything he uses then shows you him disposing what can be and the rest going into his sanitizer ( or the machine that cleans his tools). I have never had a shop be that detailed from being to end. I also loved how his wife was super friendly and talked to me which helped with my anxiety and the pain.
