About Brit

I'm a former Senior Photographer for a Time Inc. division that was based in Birmingham. I was on staff for over 14 years and I shot for Southern living, Cooking light, Coastal Living, Oxmoor House book division which produced the stunning cookbooks and many other of our titles. My professional career has taken me to some of the most amazing locations shooting in beautiful homes, photographing incredible food, people and places. I've worked extensively with natural light, strobe and hot lights. I've worked with all formats of professional cameras and I am very adept technically with equipment and computer photography programs. I feel confident I can have you taking well exposed, in focus and more interesting photographs. Please check out my website: huckabayphotography.com

I began as a way to help people who were struggling with the technical aspects of photography and then helped them develop their own aesthetic style.

I have a degree in Advertising from LSU and an associates degree in Commercial Photography. After school I began assisting some of the worlds best fashion, portrait, food and corporate photographers in New York City. I began my career as a photographer in Chicago shooting editorial environmental portraits and stories, food, corporate and product photography. I moved to Birmingham to begin work at Time Inc.

About the lesson

One on one complete explaination of the inverse relationship between f stop and shutter speed, when to manipulate the ISO, the shutter speed or the f stop and finally help them understand different aspects of photography through a series of 10 assignments to ensure they understand what I have taught them.

I have worked with all types from complete novice to somewhat advanced but not professional.

Make sure you feel comfortable with them and that you feel like you can ask any question you need to ask.

Last summer I was Director of Photography for the National Senior Games held in Albequrque, NM. The event hosted over 13,000 athletes from around the world. I had about 15 photographers I was directing and I was shooting every event from swimming to basketball to pickle ball to a marathon. I was there for almost a month and it was challenging but also exhilerating.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do I hope to acheive through the tutoring.
