About Benjamin

I am a creative director from San Francisco who moved to Ohio in 2011. In addition to running my design agency, I began to fall in love with Photography as more than just a marketing tool. Over the past 15 years I've taken photos for major high-tech companies as well as individuals.

I also teach photography through an online stream as part of a charity I co-founded.

I started teaching a few years ago because I get bored easily if I don't keep busy!

Nearly 3 decades of experience as a graphic designer and 15 years experience as a photographer. In those years I have produced numerous ad campaigns, filmed commercials, brand reels, produced photography campaigns, and animations.

About the lesson

We discuss what it is we're trying to learn or improve and then plan a course of action accordingly. We move quickly, but we also dive deep into a lot of fundementals. My perspective is about the artistic and design side of photography. Or, more aptly, what makes a good photograph visually compelling.

I work with students from across the world at all different skill levels.

Know what your end goal is: There is a big difference between being technically proficient as a photographer and being creative with photography. Be prepared to explore artistic concepts that aren't in any user manual!

I am excited every single time I download photos from my cameras onto my computer - it's the same feeling I used to get when I would get my film back after being developed. I am constantly exploring and every time I discover something new about myself, it fuels me to go out and take more photos.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you want to evolve as a hobbiest, or are you trying to reach a new level of professionlism? Are you a technical photographer or a creative photographer? Think about the photos that have inspired you and see if you can self-realize what it is about those photos that excites you.
