About Robert

I am a second generation commercial photographer. I have a Certified Professional Photographer degree from the Professional Photographers of America, and am currently working on my Photographic Craftsman degree. I specialize in landscape, architectural, and astrophotography. I teach commercial and architectural photography for the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston and Professional Photographers of America, and teach astrophotography for the Houston Astronomers Society and North Houston Astronomy club. I also teach landscape and nature photography. I love to share my skills and knowledge in all aspects of photography - composition, exposure, lighting, editing, and painting. Visit my website at photovideosound.com.

I mostly enjoy seeing the look on people's faces when they have that ah-ha moment. I have had many students tell me that they have studied a particular subject many times, but it never fully clicked-in until today. Of course, this is my livelyhood so I need to be paid, but helping others achieve their success is really the greater reward for me.

The Photographic Craftman degree requires that I teach many hours of instruction to professional photographers. I enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge.

I have a Certified Professional Photographers degree. This degree is earned by passing a 100 questions exam and 12 image portfolio review by the Professional Photographers of America. I have also attended Texas School of Photography several years, and receive ongoing education through the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston.

About the lesson

I determine what you want to learn, and develop an approach to teach you based on your current skill level. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask. There is practically no question I cannot answer related to photography.

I work with students from entry level to highly skilled.

Find someone who has a passion for different kinds of photography and understands all facets of the science, craft, art, and business of photography. Find someone who really cares about teaching everything about their photography.

For the Great American Eclipse of 2017, I traveled to Nebraska to capture totality. Afterwards, we also went to the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, and Horseshoe Bend. I love taking students on photographic adventures like this!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Ask yourself, "What excites me most about photography, and life in general?" The saying is true that if you can make your passion make a living, that you can have a fulfilling life. Whether you want to learn photography for business or pleasure, think about what is your greatest interest in photography, and pursue it with all you've got.

I was a student in Robert's Architectural Photography class recently. Going into the class I had no idea of how to properly capture images of architectural structures. I wanted to add Real Estate photography to my business repertoire which is the reason I took the class. Robert's technical knowledge, expertise, techniques, and hands on teaching style gave me more than the basic know how to hit the ground running. I look forward towards taking additional classes taught by Robert to further refine my newly found skills in Architectural Photography.

Robert Brayton is very passionate when it comes to giving advise and teaching photographers about photography. From techniques to equipment, he is my pillar and support that pushes me to be a better photographer.

Whenever I have questions he has answers. He is a great mentor. I have much to learn, but getting the support from him gave me the confidence to further improve myself. People say, practice makes us better, but without the knowledge and guidance Robert provided me with, I would still be stuck. He continues to help me perfect my art of photography. Thank you Robert!
