About Ryan
Hello, my name is Ryan Kenny.
I have 5 years of science teaching experience with a mixture of GCSE/IGCSE exam boards. I have taught a wide range of students from low to high ability students. I like to use a wide range of resources and tasks to make sure that all lessons are interactive and engaging.
All lessons will take place online using either Zoom, Teams, Skype, WeChat, or WhatsApp video calling. My program of choice is OneNote to keep all of our documents in one place.
I will;
Take time to explain scientific theory and understanding
Assist with homework or assignments.
Give additional resources (when required).
Give alternative methods to solving scientific problems
Adjust teaching to suit the exam you are studying for.
Be patient and understand that everybody learns at different speeds.
Give free lessons if we did not achieve the content due to an error on my part. (conditions apply)
Use an interactive pen
I will not;
Complete homework or assignments for you.
Supply textbooks or notebooks.
Agree to take any assessments in your name
Waste time with content that will not assist in your understanding of the topic.
I have always been passionate about teaching and knew as soon as I finished my degree in chemistry I wanted to move into teaching. I then completed my postgraduate in secondary education and have been teaching ever since. My favorite moments are watching students who have struggled with a topic or idea suddenly have that brainwave and understand it all. the lightbulb moment.
I have been a science teacher for the past 5 years and a head of science for the past two years. I have tutored many students of all ability ranges for the past 3 years.

I like to start by finding out how much a student already knows and what they want to achieve. We can then set realistic goals to slowly build up confidence and achieve the best progress we can. Chemistry should be fun and so we need to understand ways we can link the chemical knowledge to interests students have.
I have worked with a very large range of students. my early career was with students who were predicted to fail their GCSE science in the UK and I worked very hard to make sure each student managed to achieve at least the level required to attend their chosen college courses. Later in my career, I now work with students from the other end of the spectrum who have a wide range of resources and need more guidance in how to develop their careers and which paths to take.
Please make sure that you are willing to work. As a tutor and a mentor, I can only show you the tools and give you the resources but you need to have the motivation to work with them. I will support you in every possible way that I can however if you are not sold on the idea of spending extra time studying then any tutor isn't going to be good for you. I try to make the lessons and sessions engaging and fun and less of just another class but more of a chance to talk and experience chemistry together. I hope this is something you would be willing to do.
My greatest achievement was watching the students who had been told for years that they would fail to join my class and slowly see the confidence in them rise. The day they opened their result letters and found out that they could indeed achieve anything still makes me happy to this day. That is why I teach and that is why I want to help others however I can.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why are you wanting to study or improve your chemistry grade?
What are your goals and is it a realistic one?
How do you learn best? do you prefer to be coached and given guidance to find the answers or do you prefer to just be told this is right this is wrong?
Have you tried anything in the past that worked really well or didn't work very well and why did it work or not work?
Do you enjoy learning or are you doing it because somebody has told you that you have to? (this is a big one for me as I can help yu either way but if you are not invested it becomes a lot harder for both of us)
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
He taught me everything I know in all sciences, and in a pace which suited me, with help at all times. He is an amazing tutor! I even passed after his help!
He taught in a way that suited every person in his class, adapting his teaching methods to cater to the individual. He also taught in ways that were memorable and genuinely fun, proving beneficial when seeing my final grade
He teaches the subjects really well with detail and he also make it fun he is a great tutor and overall a nice person.
Kenny always made our lessons fun and interesting, I never really liked science until he became my teacher and I don’t think I would have passed without him :)
I really enjoyed working with Mr Kenny in Chemistry, he is super enthusiastic about teaching and makes every lesson enjoyable. The tasks he sets are challenging but he is able to guide me through the process to get the correct outcome.
Thank you for all your help Mr KennyThe teaching style really helped me as he explained with examples rather than just telling us he also involved us with the work which really engaged me to want to know more and also to devolved my understanding.
Even when I struggled and started to fall behind he never shouted and always had faith in me and helped me get back to the topMr Kenny was always easy to speak to, he made everyone feel really welcomed and it made it easier for me to come to him if I had issues with learning. He also always made it fun and interactive, he made science fun again, and I'm extremely grateful for that, it made me look forward to learning.
I didn’t find Chemistry interesting but Mr Kenny is really relaxed and set work in an interesting way. I learnt loads from him and would definitely recommend him as a tutor.

Before I price my lessons I like to learn about to the student to understand how much work we need to do. If a student is just looking for general chemistry help and assistance then that is very different to a student who is requesting constant support with a specific range of skills. I am happy to discuss this further.
