About Julie

My students performances speak for themselves. They enjoy playing, read well, and for those who like to compete, most have experienced quite a bit of success.

I love to watch people learn and develop as budding musicians. I want people to learn to play for life, not just to learn one piece.

I started teaching in High School, because I loved working with young people and my teacher mentored me. Later, in college, I started teaching at the university, and after graduating, taught at the college level.

I have a Bachelor's degree in piano performance, with an emphasis in piano pedagogy (the art of teaching piano).

I am a nationally certified teacher within the Music Teacher's National Association.

I teach at Green River College, and have a small piano studio in Kent.

About the lesson

I have worked with all ages and levels. My favorite age to begin a student is 7-8, and I enjoy seeing them grow up and develop. Most of my students have been with me since they began, and I'm starting to see children of my old students. Life comes full circle.

Be prepared to practice regularly. Be sure not to overschedule yourself or your child, or they will not be successful.

Have an instrument (preferably an acoustic piano) before starting.

South King County Chapter had is piano competition in early March of this year. Of the five students I entered, three placed, ranking first place, with two honorable mentions. I was very proud of them!!!

I charge a monthy tuition. I do not discuss pricing until I have have met in person with the student and parents and feel that we might be a good match.
