My daughter started taking ukulele lessons with Eric on Zoom during the spring of the pandemic. At 10-years-old, she was the youngest and only child in a beginners group ukulele class of adults. But she held her own and with Eric's coaching, she was able to learn to play fairly quickly. It was great for her to be able to learn an instrument and have a creative outlet during that tough time of quarantine. It also sparked the beginning of her love for music that has continued to grow now as she is in her teen years. As she got older, she transitioned from ukulele lessons to private guitar (both acoustic and electric) as well as piano lessons. Through the years she has learned so much from Eric. She went from a kid with no musical background to reading music fluently, studying music theory, playing four instruments, and performing guitar solos at school concerts. It's amazing how much she was able to learn through her weekly virtual lessons with Eric. He is an amazing music teacher and great with kids. He is patient, encouraging, and able to deliver instruction in a way that makes it easy and enjoyable to learn. I would highly recommend Eric to anyone looking for a music teacher for their young kids or teens.

After a couple of years of lessons with Eric, my knowledge of music theory has grown exponentially. His ability to connect music theory to the songs we play is great. I also like that he is patient with me and takes the time to fix problems and initiate good practice and playing habits, avoiding common mistakes that would catch up to me in the future. Eric is a great teacher, and I plan to work with him more.

This is my second year with Eric. He is very patient with this older person learning a new instrument. Lots of support and tips for tricky fingerings. Able to meet me where I am but also pushes me to do more. I love learning ukulele.

Eric is very knowledgeable and understands all aspects of music. He is open to suggestions and listens to me when I have a question or problem. He has modified his curriculum to better meet my needs and requirements as I have handicaps that interfere. He is patient and provides honest feedback on my progress. I am having fun learning to play the piano. To me that directly reflects the teacher. As Mr. Miagi said in the karate kid “no such thing as bad student….just bad teacher. I've taken lessons for 8 months with Eric and will continue to. Eric shows up professionally, for the first time in my life I have been able to translate what I am being taught into playing an instrument.

I credit Eric's ability as a teacher, his consistency and the individual nature of his lessons for motivating me to become a ukulele player. He helps choose songs which I enjoy playing and learning and challenges me to push through techniques I don't automatically enjoy... until I do.

My confidence in his method of teaching led me to develop a class where I work (Parks & Recreation) contracting him as a online teacher for a program. The response has been amazing. He currently leads a class for our remote Alaskan town, a multi-aged and ability class. He offers a recording of the sessions to participants who cannot physically be in class, one on one help and encourages individualized songs to the participants of that class as well.
