About Elaine

I started learning the piano at the age of six, and the violin at the age of 12. I am majoring in Piano Performance, will be pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Michigan State University, studying with Professor Margarita Shevchenko.

Also, I obtained Master of Music degree (Academic Honors) from the New England Conservatory, Bachelor of Music (Highest Distinction) from the National University of Singapore. Principal teachers include HaeSun Paik, Meng-Chieh Liu, Albert Tiu and Dr. Nicholas Ong.

I have worked with artists in masterclasses: Dang Thai Son, Elisso Virsaladze, Mikhail Voskresenky, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Jerome Lowenthal, Dean Kramer, Stephen Hough, Mei Yi Foo, Lisa Smirnova etc.

I was a participant for festivals and competitions: 1st Hanoi International Piano Festival (2018), 35th Kirishima International Music Festival, The International Holland Music Sessions (2015), awards from the 5th Thailand International Piano Competition 2018 (4th Prize), Singapore National Piano Competition 2013 (Artist Category, First Prize) and 1st Thailand International Piano Mozart Competition (2nd Prize).

I have private teaching experience of three years on the piano while I was studying in Singapore and Boston, and also giving masterclasses in my home- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Occasionally, I do teach the violin among the beginners till intermediate level.

I hope to deliver my expertise to all who have passion and love towards music, and sharing my experiences working with my teachers and providing a warm environment for students to learn music.

Friends and colleagues of mine introduced me to give lessons and I have helped several students to prepare for auditions, exams, and competitions.

I had my Graduate Diploma and Master of Music degree (Academic Honors) at New England Conservatory, Boston; studied with teachers HaeSun Paik and Meng-Chieh Liu.

Also, I completed my Bachelor of Music degree at National University of Singapore, studied with Mr. Albert Tiu.

About the lesson

Before commencing lessons with new students, the first step that I do is to know which materials the students used previously with their previous instructor, also having a brief piano playing session by the particular student in order to get the idea of the students' level of piano playing. After that, I will get on discussion with the parents on my approach on my teaching steps.

I have worked with students ranged from intermediate to advanced level.
Beginners are welcomed as well, but age wise preferably from age of six onwards.

60 minutes private teaching- $ 50
If there is a need to commute for further distance, transport fee will have to be added as I am lacking of personal vehicle to student's place.
