Offering Flute, Alto Flute, Piccolo, Piano, Clarinet, Saxophone, Recorder and Music Theory lessons!

16 years experience teaching privately and in music studios!

Specializing in Music Terminology, Music Theory, Sight Reading, Ear Training, Rhythm Study, Solo & Ensemble Preparation, Honor Band Preparation, Recital Preparation, Proper Technique & Posture, Practice Strategies and Solo/Duet/Trio/Quartet/Quintet/Ensemble Work.

Lessons are tailored to the needs and goals of the student.

Every new student receives 1 FREE TRIAL LESSON.

Typically, there will be two recitals held each year. One will be in the spring/summer and the other will be in the fall/winter.

Students played their favorite Christmas pieces for the residents at Heritage Springs and passed out Christmas cards to them as well. It was a wonderful time and we are all very much looking forward to our next recital!

It's really wonderful to be involved in my students' passion for music! My view is that it's one thing to play notes on a page, but to play the MUSIC, full of passion, is the greatest feeling of all. I like to connect with my students on a fun and emotional level so that they can better relax and learn to add passion and feeling to their selections.

Being able to transform a "student" into a passionate musician gives me such a warm feeling, that's really indescribable!

I became involved in music when I was in the 5th grade. Our school initially started with song flutes. If, as a student, you were successful with the song flute, you were identified to most likely succeed with an instrument and a flyer was sent home to your parent letting them know.

I knew right away that I wanted to play the flute and I was so excited to get started!

Fortunately, my parents were able to provide this for me! They rented a flute for me and enrolled me in private lessons immediately! I was SUPER NERVOUS at my first private lesson, but my instructor was very sweet, caring and compassionate! She gave me many tools to succeed and guided me through challenges and helped me overcome hurdles. I knew, as soon as I started lessons, that I was going to become a music instructor! I was in love with music!

She assisted me in playing in solo & ensemble festivals, recitals, concerts and even took me to play with her in the Orchestra that she belonged to (that was by far the best experience- to play with amazing musicians through the season and then to play in their concert!)

Since I had excelled in playing and had expressed my desire to become a music instructor, we switched the direction of my lessons when I turned 14 to start me down the path of thinking as a music instructor (what to look for, what to listen for, how to engage, coaching skills, etc...). She then had me start sitting in on some of her beginning flute lessons to observe her teaching and coaching.

During this same year, she needed to be away from the studio for a bit of time and she asked me to teach her students in her absence. I was so excited and felt so honored that she asked me to do this! I jumped at the chance! Who else gets that opportunity at age 14! I was so excited!

After continuing my lessons with her for another year, observing her teaching techniques and substituting for her when she was away, she decided that she was no longer going to teach for the studio as she was going down a different avenue with music, and I was brought on as an instructor when I was 15.

It was such an amazing experience to be considered a private music instructor at that age, and there are so many wonderful memories I have to look back on.

I stayed with the studio for 10 years, as an instructor, to make 14 years total that I basically "lived" there. I was brought up by the owner(s), and had support from all of the other wonderful musicians that I worked with and had so many wonderful opportunities to learn many other instruments (piano, clarinet, saxophone) and take dabble with lessons on guitar, bass, drums and violin! I decided I was definitely made to play woodwinds.

At the end of highschool I transitioned to Sacramento State University, to study under the direction of flute professor Laurel Zuker and played with their concert band, their symphonic band and their top symphonic orchestra as a freshman!

I continued teaching at the studio until 2013, after I had been married, had a child, and my husband accepted a promotion that moved us down here to Henderson, NV. I have been teaching private lessons from my home since then.

About the lesson

I love having a FREE TRIAL LESSON with ALL new students! It allows us to meet, break the ice, get to know eachother and develop a plan tailored to each student's needs.

This time allows us to discuss the instrument the student is interested in, the style of music that interests them, find out what they already know and what areas need some assistance.

Once we have gone over all this information, we can set a plan to move forward!

I have worked with students stemming from so many backgrounds!

I have had students that want to play for pleasure, for competition, to enhance their school ability and to go through college as a musician!

I have had the pleasure of sending 5 of my students to college for music (4 flute players, 1 clarinet player)!! It was a wonderful experience to know that I was able to bring them up and then watch them take their own journey through college and see them graduate with their degrees!

I have worked with several autistic children.

I have worked with students from age 4-80!

You're never too "old" to learn how to play music!

Look for an instructor that connects with you/your child on an emotional level. This indicates that the teacher truly "sees" the needs of each individual student.

Great music teachers love fundamentals! They ensure that repertoire is an extension of this knowledge.

Effective teachers are great communicators of knowledge.

Choose an instructor that makes you/your child feel at ease but can also give constructive criticism in a positive way.

Great instructors are not afraid to stretch their students' comfort zone in order to teach them how to strive toward achieving greatness.

Details

Lessons are charged by the month (to include 4 lessons each month, 1 lesson per week, 30 minutes in length).

Weekday lessons (Monday-Thursday) are $80.00, due on the first lesson of each month.

Weekend lessons (Friday) are $90.00, due on the first lesson of each month.

I do, also, offer 1-hour weekly lessons. This option is usually more suitable for older students who are capable of devoting more time to practicing, who are striving to play in their top band, for students that would like to carry their music carreer to college and for adults with an active lifestyle.

1- hour weekday lessons (Monday-Thursday) are $140.00, due on the first lesson of each month.

1-hour weekend lessons (Friday) are $160.00, due on the first lesson of each month.
