About Jessica

I strive to make music lessons meaningful again through creating, collaborating, and performing. We learn theory through compositions, games, and peer teaching. Students improve aural and rhyrhmic skills for solid musical foundation. I offer lessons for all ages. Embark on your musical journey today.

I love seeing faces light up when they finally understand an elusive concept. I love surprising students with the variety of interactive methods we use to teach the "boring stuff." I love seeing the pride students have in their own accomplishments when they create something of their very own. I love seeing students work together to achieve new heights.

I have taught since 2009 and continue to take lessons myself. My commitment to professional development is strong and I attend at least 20 masterclasses a year. Right now I am learning more about jazz music.

About the lesson

I encourage new students to schedule a free lesson before registering. This can be done by calling (concealed information) or emailing (concealed information)

I specialize in non-traditional beginners (anyone outside the typical start range of ages 7-11), but I have taught from 3-57 and everyone in between. I prefer a group format for engaging multi-sensory learning, peer teaching, repetition through games, and ongoing performance opportunities.

There are as many approaches to teaching and learning piano as there are teachers and students. That is a wonderful thing! However, the better you understand your own reasons for taking piano, the easier it will be for you to match up with a teacher who can meet those needs. Good teachers are adaptable, but the best teacher for you is the one whose strengths match your personal needs. Personality, priorities, style, and goals all play into this.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Know why you want leassons. Do you want to play at lightning speed? Look for a technique empasis. Do you want to play mainly the great classics? Look for a classical approach. Do you want to play for your friends? Look for a teacher who is comfortable teaching lead sheets. Do you want to do more than just perform at recitals? Look for teachers who teach through creative application. Do you want a comprehensive music education or the ability to enjoy the instrument on a basic level? Do you want a teacher who will push you to excel or a teacher who will teach to your commitment level? All are valid possibilities, but what speaks to you?
