About Jessi

As a performer, we sometimes go long stretches without actually performing - but as a teacher, I can share my love of music with my students every week! In my experience, a successful teacher is someone who speaks the language of his or her students; I have a knack for recognizing how each student best absorbs information and adjusting my teaching style accordingly. I’ve found that lessons are most successful in a safe space where creativity, exploration, and critical thinking are encouraged.

I believe everyone can make music, and that the process of learning and growing as a musician can be deeply enriching and rewarding on many different levels. I believe music, especially singing, has the power to change the world: singing helps us tell stories, which in turn help us connect with each other. Giving students the tools with which to express themselves is a responsibility I approach seriously, and with joy!

I have a bachelor's degree in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music and a master's degree in vocal performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I've been teaching professionally since 2012.

About the lesson

We'll work together to find music you enjoy that also challenges you to become a better musician. At the same time, we'll build technical skills that allow you to express yourself through music.
