About Josh

Greenwich Village Piano Lessons provides private piano instruction in New York, NY, from a West Village studio at 85 Barrow St, online via Zoom, or in students’ homes within the city. The studio focuses on adult learners—from brand-new beginners to professional musicians—and teaches at the student’s pace with repertoire and skills aligned to individual goals. Areas of study include jazz and improvisation, classical, rock, blues, R&B, Broadway, film and TV music, reading, playing by ear, solo and ensemble skills, composition, and music theory. Ongoing support between lessons includes phone and email guidance and custom practice videos.

Lessons are available seven days a week, subject to availability. NYC residents receive a free first lesson. Current rates: in-studio single lesson $160; monthly plans for four weekly lessons at $120 (30 minutes) or $145 (40 minutes) per lesson. Online single lesson $150; monthly plans at $110 (30 minutes) or $135 (40 minutes) per lesson. In-home lesson rates vary by distance and availability. Discounts are offered to college students and seniors 65+, with a sliding scale for financial need. Adults with cognitive or physical limitations are welcome, with instruction adapted to their needs.

Instruction is led by Josh, a professional musician and educator with over 20 years of industry experience, including consulting for major film and TV productions and coaching actors such as Jeremy Irons and Adam Devine; he studied jazz and improvisation at New York University and has performed across genres in the U.S. and abroad.

Piano lessons offered by Josh are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in New York. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
