About Dwight

Hampton University-trained instructor Dwight Hill is a lifelong musician, skilled at drums, piano, guitar, bass, and voice. He's played around the country as both a solo act and with a range of equally talented cohorts. From big bands to smaller rock and metal ensembles (and even a smattering of funk/R&B groups), his experiences run the gamut. He draws from them all to inject the perspective of a veteran performer who understands what it takes to be a gigging musician into his lessons.

Playing music is fun, and teaching, by extension, is equally enjoyable. Any opportunity to pass along what I know and help others experience the thrill of music is a delight.

Shortly after graduating from college, teaching seemed like a logical way to help continue improving my own skills while passing some of those skills onto others.

I studied music performance in college, and have been a performer myself for nearly thirty years.

About the lesson

After assessing a student's skill, I like to develop a lesson plan that will help them build towards performing live while continuing to build their technique.

All kinds — from raw beginners all the way up to advanced students preparing to head off to college to study music.
