About Ethan

I have been playing piano for over twenty years, and started teaching lessons upon graduating high school. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in Child Psychology and a music minor. I studied music education for two years, and was a member of the U of M Percussion Studio under the tutelage of Fernando Meza. I performed in various ensembles playing both percussion and piano, including Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and a few operas.

I've also had the honor of performing as an accompanist in various recitals, auditions, and district solo and ensemble contests.

About the lesson

I like to provide a well-balanced teaching style with an emphasis on cultivating a passion for music and developing technique. I often find my psychology background allows me to be more observant and accommodating of each student's individual goals. My lesson plan is tailored to the student's unique needs, interests, and skill level. I work hard to get my students excited about music. Goals include:

1. Learning to read music notation and rhythms

2. Understanding the fundamentals - music theory

3. Encouraging practice

4. Having fun!

I have primarily worked with beginning-intermediate K-6 students, but also have some experience teaching adults, more advanced students, and students with disabilities.

Details

I offer weekly and bi-weekly half-hour lessons (and am open to hour long bi-weekly lessons as well). Tuition is $27 per lesson paid on a monthly basis and is due at the first lesson of every month. Pricing is somewhat negotiable depending on location - distance traveled.
